Spring Valley Power Outage?

1/17/2021 (Permalink)

A winter rainstorm is shown dropping heavy rain over parts of the landscape. We respond to storm damage emergencies 24 hours a day in Spring Valley, Bonita and Jamul!

Power Outage Survival Tips

Last December, powerful Santa Ana winds and low humidity created dangerous wildfire weather conditions and forced The San Diego Gas and Electric Company to shut off power to over 73 thousand customers in San Diego County. SERVPRO® of Spring Valley/Jamul has been responding to property damage emergencies caused by high winds and severe weather for years and offer these power outage survival tips from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA):

  • Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. The refrigerator will keep food cold for about four hours. A full freezer will keep the temperature for about 48 hours. Use coolers with ice if necessary.
  • Use food supplies that do not require refrigeration. Avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Generators, camp stoves, or charcoal grills should always be used outdoors and at least 20 feet away from windows. Never use a gas stovetop or oven to heat your home.
  • Check on your neighbors. Older adults and young children are especially vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
  • Turn off or disconnect appliances, equipment, or electronics. Power may return with momentary “surges” or “spikes” that can cause damage.
