High Water Bill in Jamul?

2/1/2022 (Permalink)

A water meter is shown. We locate and repair hidden water damage in San Diego County.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that minor water leaks account for more than one trillion gallons of water wasted in United States homes each year. Many water leaks are not visible, and even minor water leaks can cause significant damage to a home over time. SERVPRO® of Spring Valley/Jamul uses advanced technology, like infrared cameras, to locate hidden water leaks in homes and businesses.

Here is some information from the EPA to help you determine if you have a hidden water leak:

  • A good method to check for leaks is to examine your winter water use. A family of four likely has a serious leak problem if its winter water use exceeds 12,000 gallons per month.
  • Check your water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, you probably have a leak.
  • To check for a toilet bowl leak, place a drop of food coloring in the toilet tank. You have a leak if the color shows up in the bowl within ten minutes without flushing.
