What You Can Do and What You Should NOT Do

Our SERVPRO of Spring Valley/Jamul teams has heavy-duty equipment to extract water, dry structures, and to dehumidify belongings. We have cleaning and disinfection materials and techniques for the entire home and belongings. We understand, however, that you want to start working on the house before we arrive.

Here are important things to know:

• Do NOT turn off circuit breakers, electrical cords, or other appliances if you must stand in water to do so.
• If you can remove documents and valuables to a safe, dry area, go ahead and do that. Move art and other valuables to someplace dry and safe.
• Be careful not to slip on wet floors.
• Do NOT contact contaminated water.
• Do NOT lift heavy objects. Water makes the objects even heavier. We have the equipment to help us move these objects.
• Remove water by mopping and blotting with towels.
• Remove items from tabletops, preferably to a dry place.
• Turn on the a/c for maximum drying (if you can do it safely).
• Remove cushions from furniture; prop them up on foil.
• Do NOT leave loose items on the floor or on tables.
• Do NOT decide what cannot be repaired. Leave those decisions to us.
• Hang up clothing.

Most important: take care of yourself.
